So. I just started to learn to make flash animations, and boy is it hard.
So far I've spent over 48 hours trying to learn ActionScript 2.0 using Adobe Flash CS3 Professional and it hasn't gone over too well. I have discovered that my mouse-screen coordination is retarded at best. It took me about 100 attempts to freehand a simple hand which I can normally draw decently well.
After I picked up on the 'hand drawing' I began to make my own preloader. BAD IDEA!
I first started off with a few simple layers, some background stuff, a candycane, a sign, a few shadows. Then after watching a few of the so called 'Preloader guides' on Newgrounds I attempted to make the preloader part. This went over horribly. I was trying to simply make a snowfall effect with 5 different frames of snow. I spent over 2 hours trying tyo get this work. I didn't.
So I went on to attempting to learn how to use buttons for a FPS. This was a bit easier, and after about 2 hours I had a lame, 'Click-On-The-Button-With-The-Crosshai rs-To-/win' game. I then tried to add a dynamic scoring textbox to this which still doesn not work. I mean honestly. How hard would it be to tell someone how to add that type of code? There are plenty of FPS Creation Guides, but all of them forget to mention this...
Anyway, I'll review some games, then attempt to learn s'more ActionScript later.
Peace Out 'Zappowie'
